Young Brum Radio
Young Brum Radio is a an exciting initiative that empowers young people to take the lead in creating their own radio shows.
The project gives them the chance to record their shows in the Brum Radio studio in Digbeth and have them aired on Brum Radio, offering a unique platform for their voices to be heard. Throughout the journey, participants are put through their paces in DJ workshops, confidence-building sessions, and hands-on radio production training. This not only helps them develop tangible skills but also boosts their self-esteem, all while having fun and building experience in the world of media.
Young Brum Radio has covered a wide range of important and relevant topics, each chosen by the young people themselves. These include the impact of social media on mental health, the challenges of navigating school life, and the urgent issue of youth violence in the community. With every show, the participants have created a space for open, honest discussions on issues that truly matter to them, showing their pride in their voices and their communities. Now Young Brum Radio is going on tour! Bringing these meaningful conversations to more areas across South Birmingham, ensuring even more young Brummies get the opportunity to share their stories and make their mark!
Used as an enrichment activity for young people or as a unique tool for schools/organisations to showcase youth voice, we have various opportunities for young people to be involved.
